Is This Website Reliable? I want to buy a starting drum set and there's this site called World Music Supply (www.worldmusicsupply.com) They sell their own brand called Exo Drums and I was just wondering if anyone has ever purchased from this website. They have a YouTube video as a demo for one of their products and it seems good but any ideas? Here's the link to the product: http://www.worldmusicsupply.com/drums/drum-sets/EXO/EXO1000-SVPKG.asp Hope that helps.
Why so many people(especially musicians) in the US resent disco music? I was trying to form a disco duo in Sacramento, CA, but as soon as I mentioned that I want to make synthesizer-driven music for dancing, everyone backed out. Why? I believe disco is the best music in the world, it is very melodic, groovy and pleasant to listen to. So many great groups work(ed) in this genre - ABBA, Pet Shop Boys, Army of Lovers, Stock Aitken Waterman, the list goes on and on. In Europe and Asia disco music is on the foreground, rightfully taking the place it belongs. What's wrong with the States? I think people here want to hear good entertaining music, why can't supply meet demand?
Do you think these are valid reasons why the music industry needs to be demolished and rebuilt? 1. There's too much money and not enough music involved. 2. These people have been getting mega-rich on kids pocket money for too long now. 3. The technology no longer restricts availability and supply. 4. The idea of albums and singles were only valid when vinyl was the only medium available. 5. We no longer need to be told what select few musicians to listen to as we now have access to the whole world of music. 6. The most successful musicians aren't always the best musicians but are the most photogenic and well connected. 7. They didn't try and keep the candle-makers rich when electricity came in so why pay £16 for a CD that cost about £4 to produce or 80p for a download that has hardly any overheads or expense. 8. If technology has improved so much that music is more easily available real musicians should be thinking "more people can enjoy my work" not "I can make more money from this". 9. Why no longer by what we've just seen on Top of the Pops as there is now more variety
Are there any interesting videos dealing with specific world issues? I am going to be a guest speaker in a 11th grade 20th Century America classroom in one week, and my lesson plan starts out with a starter to get the students thinking, participating, and talking about the world. I have been looking all over for an online video that deals with some specific world issue, but can't find one interesting enough for 16-year olds. Some examples I have thought of are abuse, discrimination continuing in America, terrorism, famine, water supply, illegal immigrants, guns/violence/gangs, and children being negatively influenced by celebrities. There are many more possible ideas, and I will appreciate any suggestions. All I need is a short 2-5 minute long video (maybe from youtube or a similar site) that I can find on the internet. It should be edited or high-school students. It can be a music video dealing with a world issue, but I would like videos to show examples of each issue happening as it occurs in real life. I don't just want people talking/discussing about it; I want something that will catch students' attention and get them motivated. Any suggestions are appreciated, Thanks
Who here likes Air Supply? Please don't tell me Who? Air Supply, Journey, Chicago...I will play Air Supply and be in Robby's World (At least that is what I call it). I love the sappy love songs from the 80's. Am I just weird or do any other of you guys like this. My friends just tell me it is because of the gayness in me. I can't be the only guy who likes this kind of music. Please someone else has got to like it. kerin - I envy you....I'd love to meet them. I can only dream it. The second person - thanks, you're awesome.
What do you think... Y!A "If I Ruled The World" (repost)? [Makaveli] Imagine no corrupt politicians and cowards who deceitful Picture a world, that actually gives power to the people If each individual's different, then how are brothas equal? Would you rather let government devour us? it's evil Imagine righteousness, serving justice to all races Africans, Arabics, Asians, Indians, Caucasians Lately I been noticing more and more racists Imagine the world without them to cause hatred How would it be without politics ruling our lives? With the poor in homes instead of grueling outside May be impossible, sometimes seems like we all doomed Imagine how it'd be without unjust decisions in courtrooms If we could have a day without predujiced killings all around A world without oppression, cultures to gain some common ground Equal perception of whites, blacks, jews and girls Could it really be like this, if Mak ruled the world? [Drab1ne] If I ruled the world would I know what to do/ How the hell do I separate what’s fake from the truth/ Escaped inmates unlocked gates breaking loose/ Freedom is in knowledge no longer for the chosen few/ Redistribute the wealth so every kid has good health/ Corrupt politicians are becoming the new victims/ A classless society and no early death expiry/ No need for the hate people just exchanging niceties/ You ain’t termed a nerd because you like the quiet of the library/ No terms like obese and ugly describing anybody/ The beats providing the vibe for the rhymes inside everybody/ If I ruled the world it’s likely gonna be a thankless task/ But I’d try to do it from within the goodness of my heart/ Cast a line out in the ocean one of the fishers/ Reel it back in and we can all eat for dinner/ No need to distinguish a saint from a sinner [Staying true for RHH & R&B] If I ruled the world of hip hop today/ you would have to level up get on my stage/ quick lesson, best guessin im addressin/ concious topics I be best in, no messin just a blessin/hip hop session so sit down and get testin/you dont like the question then you change the settin/cuz im good where im at, the only place im set in/words out the brain, music is what i let in/inspired to think and be smart today/I always have trouble with the choices I make/so I looked at the fututre threw the past away/no point in lookin back, already past those days/music in my soul makes the pain go stray/my only melody, makes me think this way/so with that being said, i stand up to say/be smart with your life, have fun and be safe/ [DJ Cliff] If I ruled the world there be no one starvin in the street i give um food so that they can eat i'd be right there if they need shoes or a sheet cause I ain't one to drag my feet i'd teach peple to get out and work for themselves cause it feels go when we supply for ourselves on a scale of one to ten we be feelin somethin like twelves cause we'd be makein dough like the keepler elves If I ruled the world i'd lower gas prices there wouldn't be a oil owner as the presidents vices but hay that is only an if and that is it from DJ Cliff [D.C.-Saga] If i ruled the world i'd be sittin on stacks have the world at my fingertips and 30 cadillacs the ladies would be all over me and i wouldn't give a f*ck how did that kid rule the world? Bro, this is pure luck the government would have no more secrets, no more lies no more killings, or any more closed eyes no more war and no more civilian's cries the hood would be free and no more misery no more struggle, no more hate no more bloods, crips or secretary of state some people think ruling would be fun but what's fun about being public enemy#1? none i don't want so secret service if i ruled the world i'd be immune to murders death calls, swimming pool in niagara falls if i ruled the world, my enemies be cruisin in the back of a hearse f*ck the world, i wanna rule the universe [Eason] If I ruled the world, I wouldnt do nothing with it. Put it up for grabs and let Barack Obama rip it. I need a stimulus for gas cause it's hard tryna pick up @ss. When all you have to flash is a bus pass. Kool Aid in my glass not no lean in a cup. While rappers throwing up money the poor try to pick it up. The young watch rappers habits they start to pick it up. To be fly they spend the money from their last stimulus. No better than the last, better than the next failure. Cause his blunders will help my successes look greater. Soundscan battles to see who really got it made. Is this really competition? The artists still getting paid. So really in reality they aint never lose a thang. Except maybe some cred wen rapping about cain. Am I the best? Who cares. There's no need to argue, leave that kinda banter for squares. [Ant] If I had the whole world in the palm of my hand No worry for our boys & girls, no bein robbed by the grands This land wouldn’t be a man’s, so no weaker voices Judgments declared fair, all equal choices Living with rejoice, humans have no sin in em No headlines readin missin, crimes kept minimum Before if they were poor or rich, now no difference Have bitches thinking twice bout subliminally dissin Zero disputes between white or black, no war in Iraq Perfect world that’s a fact, no terrorist attacks It’s evident me in charge is heaven sent Especially cuz I got rid of the man we called President No packin mac’s, no crack, or federal tax A fantasy in mind, nothing’s considered wack This is a fact, because I’m persistent And stressin over gas is now non-existent It’s my world so I’m getting all sex, bread and head Now I open my eyes and I’m layin in my bed [Qwerty] The whole world's corrupt, how can I defeat the system? If I ruled the world, would it be a platform to release my wisdom? Naw man, I'd be just another puppet, fed up so f*ck it, Success based on luck make a man want to kick the bucket, World's full of people who talk revolution, then accept the status quo, And one man's supposed to change that because he's got the baddest flow? Of course my fame would be a platform to reinforce my claims, Try to get it through y'all heads that money's the source of pain, But my thoughts would be altered, the truth brought to the altar, And I would be next, if I fought if I faltered, Genocide, pollution, famine, lots and lots of war, But we're blind to the truth, what you think Fox is for, And no one man could go up against the powers that be, They'll tell us that there's not enough beef while they're devouring meat, So while empowering me might give the people a fake hope, In the end, all it does is give the system a scapegoat.

How could my question about a Swedish music artist be a violation to yahoo rules? I recently asked a question if anybody likes the Swedish folk music artist *********-*****, but this question was immediately deleted and 10 points removed from my account !!! The field "Violation reason" was left blank in the Yahoo violation email, so I don't really understand how on earth this question could be considered so offensive it had to be deleted! Here are the only 3 reasons I can possible think of: 1. This artist has a very unusual (ethnic) artist name (probably the only artist name in the world containing 6 k's), but how can this be considered offensive, even by sensitive Americans? Or is Yahoo perhaps racists? 2. The other reason for violation might be the supplied y o u t u b e link, with an excerpt from an old Swedish move (from 1963) where the artist participates "as himself", singing for some ladies. Is this perhaps considered offensive in the American mind, or a copyright violation? (In any way it can't very well be a Hollywood copyright issue, since the excerpt is from a Swedish film, and Sweden has a lot more liberal copyright laws than USA). 3. There was also included the Swedish lyrics and name of the song he is singing, just to supply full information. However, the question itself was in English, so that shouldn't be a problem (or was it?) PS: If you want to know the (uncensored) name of the artist and reading the violation email (including the contents of the original question) then you can email me and ask for it. I'm sorry I can't publish it directly here, but then *this* question will probably also be considered a violation! I might add that although not everybody likes the music from this artist, he was during his lifetime highly respected in Sweden since he traveled around and visited old and sick people and sung for them, and donated his fees to charity. (My old Christian grandmother liked him very much, and as a kid I often listened to his music with her...). It's not that I won't accept a justified violation notice if I'm asking something inappropriate, but I think it is very rude and uncivilized by Yahoo to not even state the reason for a supposed violation, and also sending out standardized "deny-replies" to appeals. (I actually suspect it's an automatic process and there are no real humans involved in the appeal process). Anyway, I will not participate in Yahoo Answers any more since I'm really fed up with their silly and arbitrary "China-style" censorship, but first I would really like to have an answer why my question was considered a violation...

I'm a new art director at a summer camp this year, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any projects? The kids are co-ed ages 7 through 15, and I have six weeks with different children and ages. I need to fill numerous hours and I didn't know if anyone could help me with some ideas. I can order project supplies online and the budget isn't too big or too small. There are themes to the weeks, superherous, summer olympics, welcome to the circus, music makers, the wonder years, and world leaders. Any help you can offer would be amazing.

youtube - no more music videos at end of week (tomoz) whats your opinion? this is what youtube wrote: We have invested a lot of time and effort trying to ensure that our community can find and enjoy the music they love, and we have strong partnerships with three of the four largest record labels in the world, as well as many independent labels. But copyrights in music can get pretty complicated. For example, there may be several different copyrights in a single music video, controlled by different organisations with different interests. The visual elements and the sound recording of a music video are typically owned by a record label, while the music and lyrics of the song being performed are owned separately by one or more music publishers. These publishers often designate organisations called collecting societies to issue licences and collect royalties on their behalf. In the UK we've had a licence from the collecting society called PRS for Music to make music videos provided by our record label partners available to our users in the UK. Our previous licence from PRS for Music has expired, and we've been unable so far to come to an agreement to renew it on terms that are economically sustainable for us. There are two obstacles in these negotiations: prohibitive licensing fees and lack of transparency. We value the creativity of musicians and songwriters and have worked hard with rights-holders to generate significant online revenue for them and to respect copyright. But PRS is now asking us to pay many, many times more for our licence than before. The costs are simply prohibitive for us - under PRS's proposed terms we would lose significant amounts of money with every playback. In addition, PRS is unwilling to tell us what songs are included in the license they can provide so that we can identify those works on YouTube -- that's like asking a consumer to buy an unmarked CD without knowing what musicians are on it. We're still working with PRS for Music in an effort to reach mutually acceptable terms for a new licence, but until we do so we will be blocking premium music videos in the UK that have been supplied or claimed by record labels. This was a painful decision, and we know the significant disappointment it will cause within the UK. And to be clear, this is not an issue with the record labels, with most of whom we have strong relationships. While negotiations continue, we'll still be working to create more ways to compensate musicians and other rights-holders on YouTube. In addition to various advertising options, we recently introduced a click-to-buy feature that enables fans to purchase downloads of their favourite songs. We're also proud of our Content ID tools that help rights owners identify their content and even use the power of our community to increase advertising and revenue potential. We will continue to seek partnerships that benefit our community, music publishers, music labels and, of course, musicians and songwriters, and we will work hard with anybody who shares this commitment. We hope that professional music videos will soon be back on YouTube for our users in the UK to enjoy, and if and when that time comes, you can be sure that you'll be the first to know.
Did Adam & Eve replenish the world by giving birth to whales? In an earlier question about the finding of transitional fossils of whales, one christian told me that Adam & Eve were told to REPLENISH the Earth, and that if I looked up the meaning of replenish, I would understand. Replenish:To fill or make complete again; add a new stock or supply to: replenish the larder. To inspire or nourish: The music will replenish my weary soul. Did they have to restock the garden of Eden? So did Adam & Eve give birth to all the animals or something? Did they go shopping to fill the larder? Or did they inspire each other with poetry and music to nourish the soul? Sorry dude, I looked it up, and I'm more confused than I was before about where you're coming from. Primoa......you qualify that it's the most ridiculous coming from a non-believer, so you therefore acknowledge that christians come up with more ridiculous questions than atheists do you?

(if you do, what do you believe???)
How much money does your religion sucker from you each year? According to a Chicago Tribune article Christianity is "a more than $4 billion a year religious entertainment industry, including amusement parks, music, books, movies and wrestling matches." ... and that is but a part of it. I contend that religions are right up there with the "Enron"s of the world. There is a hierarchy that lives very well off of believers flow of cash. Some like Reverend Haggard even managed to enjoy contributors cash at his both ends. As I understand Christian history, in biblical days congregants met in believers homes and the service leader had another job to supply his income. What a change from todays mega churches. Can you be honest with yourselves as to why you shell out hard earned cash to commune with your God? Is calling you a sucker appropriate or is there something else in that edifice you call a church, mosque or synagog that you are really paying for?
filipino singers all over the world, what can i do to improve my voice? im a white american, but stays here in the philippines for over 4 years now,i do sing back in us but not like when im here, pretty much motivated and driven by the environment of singing here, the musical culture here is so great that i want to be like them, (in terms of musical inclination)they sing really superb, Is it because of the karaoke dispersed all over the country, when i go out, i cant pass a street without them, they flood here, ithink almost every house has their own .and when i get invited to their parties, there has never been a time that i would have goose bumps when they sing, they are really great, they sing like professionals, when they imitate singers like those of the international, like the air supply, frank sinatra, celine dion (some of the most popular here)they really sound like they are the originals, i think i have indulged myself in singing more when i set foot on this country and ,i dont know, they really are so great. even when i get to watch local channels, I see flooding small children sing about the age of 5 or 6 who can actually sing like pros, with very smooth nad developed voices, they don’t sound like they are only children, and they’re style and genre are so vast that they can be able to sing like black americans and white americans, name it and youll have the greatest performances any connoisseur would want to pay hundred of dollars for,its like you have boxed up all the great musicians. im so amazed but what I have learned in this country, and when you think that genres are divided from the types of music people are into, its not, every young man here seems to know the songs which their grandparents would sing, and to think that men are very attached to not being submissive to emotional manifestations. They call it here the machsimo effect. i begin to adhere to their inclination.now all I wanted is to sing as long as I live, to every Filipino out there,I want to know how can I enhance my voice, what should i do.how can I play with my voice, like vibrating and all,how come you could imitate the originals flawlessly and perfectly.can I possibly do that, and at the age of 43 can I still make it?have all my weaknesses patched up and fixed?

Definitions For The Modern World (not for those who suffer from short term memory)? Affirmative Action: A politically correct term for reverse discrimination. If the state says that some discrimination is good then, clearly, more must be better … so … Anti-Semitic: An individual who doesn’t fawn over those of Jewish descent. Battered Spouse Syndrome: Originally called “Battered Wife Syndrome” but was recast as a unisex term to disguise the intended gender bias. Battered Wife Syndrome: It is an end run around justice for women guilty of revenge killings, mutilations etc. Note that ‘battered’ need only be alleged. See also ‘Positive Spin’. Blind Justice: Said to mean that race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, etc. will not enter into the legal judgment process. Actually means that truth and fairness won’t. Coalition of the Willing: Quantril’s Raiders, the Jesse James Gang, the Axis Powers, etc. Collateral Damage: When we attacked, some innocent civilians got killed. What the hell were they doing in their own country anyway? Communism: A political system that seeks to make all citizens equal … at the bottom of the economic ladder. Credit: A way of getting the money you won’t have tomorrow (because of high interest costs) to pay for the “must have” wants of today. Dangerous Offender: An individual given a sentence of an indefinite duration. Lest anyone think that the law is being totally capricious, it should be noted that there are strict requirements before this label is applied: the individual must be male and must have done something or other. Defense Department: Military organization that oversees the creation and maintenance of offensive capabilities. Democracy: Fascist rule by the largest misinformed minority. Due Process: Long, involved and very costly legal proceedings the courts must undertake in a case against you. i.e. innocent or guilty, you lose. Easy Credit: Credit that is easy to obtain. Retirement for you and the debt will be another story. English Common Law: Laws applied to the common folk; the rich are accorded better treatment. Entertainment: Consists of a wide variety of media presentations: movies, music, television shows, sporting events, etc. A pacifier for adults. Executive Action: Probably a criminal activity. Executive Compensation: The amount of money it would take to feed most impoverished nations. Executive Decision: Consensus opinion expressed by the person with the highest position in an organization. Free Enterprise: A system whereby commercial enterprises attempt, by means fair and foul, to corner the money supply. Free Press: Media that is unhampered by obligations to objectivity and responsible journalism. Trades on the myth that ‘free’ implies unbiased. Free Trade: An import/export arrangement between two or more countries. Defines the starting point for cheating by all parties to the agreement. Free Vote: A multi-billion dollar poll used to determine if the populace has been subjected to sufficient propaganda. Freedom Fighter: A terrorist who sees things our way. Hollywood: A center for the production of films and documentaries. Also known as ‘The Dream Factory’. Happily, its fictional portrayals clearly show that our way of life is superior. Income Tax: You work and the government shares the reward with you. Intelligentsia: Clearly not the press, the media, sports stars, the judiciary, politicians or the military. Must be the rest of us. Judicial Latitude: The mechanism that allows courts to come up with radically different verdicts in two or more cases with identical facts and circumstances. Flipping a coin would yield fairer, more consistent results. Legal Precedent: The first judge got it wrong and it has been done that way ever since. No Taxation without Representation: Expression made popular during the American War of Independence. The public has since been given a token number of representatives who don’t listen in exchange for an exorbitant amount of taxes. Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity: The accused is guilty but is set free because the individual appeared before an insane judge and/or jury. Not-for-profit Organization: The people running the operation are being honest: they are in it only to fill their own pockets without attempting to delude stakeholders into believing otherwise. Peace Keeping Force: Keeping two sides in line by the implied use of a force greater than the one that either side had to contend with previously. Physician: A mechanic that works on humans. They know so much about maintaining health that they are immortal. Okay, so the bad ones only live twice as long as the rest of us do. Policing Action: Military action to combat a nation or rogue state. Could also be described as “naked aggression” but that’s harder to sell. Positive Spin: Putting a positive face on a negative action or event that is wrong (by our own definition) so that we can continue to get away with it. Presumption of Innocence: Often encapsulated in the expression: “Innocent until proven guilty”. Professional Athlete: Individual, one generation removed from walking on his/her knuckles, who makes a fortune at a sport without which the universe could not exist. Propaganda: False, misleading or incomplete information disseminated by our enemies. Our system would never allow that. See also ‘Free Press’. Statutory law: We didn’t like the way that the common law was unfolding so we “plugged it”. Weapons of Mass Destruction: Chemical, nuclear and biological weapons in the possession of our enemies. Ours are defensive in nature. United Nations: Countries that are united in their inability to come up with useful solutions to the world’s problems. Utopia: A perfect world … we aren’t there yet. Hang a left at Saturn and keep straight for three trillion light years.
Why when asked about black music whites, Latinos, and Asians refer to rap.? Whenever I hear people ask whites, Latinos, if they like black music, they either say yes they like rap or they say no I don't like violent gangsta music. They never refer to R@B music which I consider weird since R@B has been out much longer and has had much more hits than rap music. Answer other question please http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlADkBdppbpE46bvvplF.Zzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100429154359AAQaYIq No rapper has ever impacted the white world in the way that Michael/ Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince, or even TLC and Destiny's Child has done. R@B stars have supplied the charts with far more hugh hits and yet it while their are wigger who are devoted to the culture of rap, there are only a few devoted towads R@B.

Is this Christmas in a Politically Correct world? Its long but Funny and worth the read. Company Memo FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 1, 2009 RE: Gala Christmas Party I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols... feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 PM. Exchanges of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! Our CEO will make a special announcement at that time! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Patty ________________________________ ________________________________ Company Memo FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 2, 2009 RE: Gala Holiday Party In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Hanukkah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on, we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians and to those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree and no Christmas carols will be sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment. Happy now? Happy Holidays to you and your family, Patty ________________________________ Company Memo FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 3, 2009 RE: Holiday Party Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table, you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only", you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody? And sorry, but forget about the gift exchange, no gifts are allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and the executives believe $10.00 is a little chintzy. REMEMBER: NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED. ________________________________ Company Memo FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director To: All Employees DATE: October 4, 2009 RE: Generic Holiday Party What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work? Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet, and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each group will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men's table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, the Grill House asks that no cross-dressing be allowed, apparently because of concerns about confusion in the restrooms. Sorry. We will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. I am sorry to report that we cannot control the amount of salt used in the food. The Grill House suggests that people with high blood pressure taste a bite first. There will be fresh "low sugar" fruits as dessert for diabetics, but the restaurant cannot supply "no sugar" desserts. Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!? Patty ________________________________ Company Memo FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All F*%^ing Employees DATE: October 5, 2009 RE: The F*%^ing Holiday Party I've had it with you vegetarian pricks!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your f*%^ing salad bar, including organic tomatoes. But you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right NOW! The rest of you f*%^ing wierdos can kiss my *ss. I hope you all have a rotten holiday! Drive drunk and die, The B*tch from H*ll!!! ________________________________ ________________________________ Company Memo FROM: Joan Bishop, Acting Human Resources Director DATE: October 6, 2009 RE: Patty Lewis and Holiday Party I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Patty Lewis a speedy recovery and I'll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Part Holiday party and give everyon that day off with Pay

Secret santa help, what to get my brother for Christmas? ? I am totally lost! This year with the Secret Santa I've pulled the most dreaded person on the family's list. We love my brother to bits of course but hes so impossible to get gifts for. A beta we thought he wanted, home made clothes and bed pillows, a personalized guitar, interesting Simpson memorabilia. Every year he seems to be the only one without a merry Christmas. I had an idea of making him a hemp guitar strap but he already has a braided leather one he got for 50 bucks a few years ago. I'm out of ideas, with little money in my pocket I'd prefer something I can make. Hes a professional musician, going to graduate school to teach college, likes modern art, world music, but silly stuff too, like cats and clever pop humor...But every time we've gotten him something neat and funky (a Prof. Frink themed guitar for instance or supplies for his Love Den of a college dorm (adorable shy dude)) its always a polite thank you and it ends up in a box of junk weeks later. Any ideas? I love to sew and paint and planned on some decorative stitching for anything I could make, but since hes a college aged guy I wouldn't want anything he'd be embarrassed of. Any ideas for someone whose had a similarly difficult, but cool sibling? Anything practical would be best in this country's hard time as well. p.s. I already made him an oil piece of impressionist jazz symbolism so scratch that idea. Hes not your typical college lughead either, so no Playboy or other magazine subscriptions that'd just be thrown away anyhow. also, no gift cards.

Look around the room in which you are typing, dirty or clean? Believe it or not, according to an article on Slate.com the cleanliness of your surroundings may indicate your political preference. This is true of your personality as well. The researchers found that "Liberals are more likely to be open to experiences. Conservatives would score higher on measures of conscientiousness. Liberals would be more motivated by curiosity, creativity, and diversity of experiences. Conservatives would value following the rules, self-control, and order". The cleanliness of room applies in that "Conservatives' bedrooms tended to have more calendars and postage stamps. They had more flags and sports posters. Conservatives' bedrooms were neater and better lit—they had more laundry baskets, ironing boards, cleaning supplies, and sewing thread. Liberals' bedrooms had a greater variety of books (especially books about travel, feminism, and music). They had more CDs and a greater variety of music (folk, world, classical). Liberal bedrooms had more art supplies, cultural memorabilia, and maps of other countries. These same traits carried over to the work life. Conservatives' offices "tended to be more conventional, less stylish, and less comfortable compared with liberal offices." Liberals' offices were more colorful and contained more CDs and "a greater variety of books." What do you think? Does this apply to you? http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/bigsort/archive/2008/10/28/difference-between-rs-and-ds-it-s-all-in-the-stuff.aspx Carol: which political preference are you? Oh if you answer this and indicate your surroundings, please also include your political preference it's not my theory, it's the result of a study To give you my perspective: My house can get very messy. This is mainly due to the fact that I work and go to school and am often very busy. Plus my roommate is a bit of a slob, he has his days. Anyway we're both Democrats, very liberal. GO OBAMA! Oh and naughty carol: that's a slur, please don't think you're being cute, it's offensive

So you'd like to... know why the xbox 360 rules all consoles? Come on, Sony fanboys, lighten up and hear me out before you fumble for that "NO" button. I'm sorry that you spent $600+ to play the most powerful gaming system known to man only to find out that there were almost no games worth playing and the ones they do have are as good on the 360. PS3 is still a sweet Blu-ray player, no? So here's the guide: The current gen console wars are history and the next-gen craze is front and center with sky-rocketing prices and awesome new games and features coming out of the woodwork. Sadly, if you're anything like me, you have but a modest budget and tight time constraints on your free time and only have the time and money for one next-gen console. The choices are: 1) Microsoft's awesome Xbox 360 Console Includes 20GB Hard Drive with it's unbeatable live play, slough of incredible original games, and a proven dependable interface, 2) The superpowered, blu-ray technology sporting, hyper-expensive PlayStation 3 (60GB); the gaming juggernaut with an endless supply of Japanese 3rd party support and perfect backwards-compatibility, and 3) the moderately priced Wii which looks to change the way games are played with it's revolutionary motion-sensitive controller, allowing you control you onscreen action using the motions of your hands, and featuring downloadable games dating from the NES all the way to the N64 era. Nice. So which to get? If the title of this guide didn't tell you, I'll tell you straight-up that I'm down with Microsoft on this one. I'm not some fanboy; I've floated between all three of these gaming giants in my years since my mama bought me the Atari 2600 and I believe they all offer something fantastic. Nintendo has and always will excel at family-friendly gaming and simple, pick-up-and-play party games at a good price and is highly recommended as a console for children or nostalgia buffs. But I'm neither of those. The best Nintendo series, which have great games including Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl that are top-notch and fun for all. But they don't carry the whole system for me (though Red Steel also looks promising). Sony's Playstation systems have been the king of the hill as far as sales go, and continue to dominate Japan and America alike with their always impressive list of RPG's and other quirky Japanese funfests. A great choice if you have limitless time and money to buy and play the neverending catalogue of cookie-cutter games mixed in with the handful of premium PS2 franchises such as Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts II, and the fighting series, Tekken 5. The PS3 itself has stumbled out the gate, promising far more than it has delivered with middling titles like Resistance: Fall Of Man and games that are already available on the 360 and look and play no better. The interface is little more than a carbon copy of the Xbox's tried and true menu system with promises (always with the promises) of a "Second Life"-style friends' lounge coming up. Let's not mention the disgraceful behavior of Sony's supporters on launch day as customers physical fought each other for the few consoles that Sony had available to sell. Oops, I just mentioned it! I miss my Zelda and my Final Fantasy, but the Xbox Core Console USM simply rocked my world when it came out. Microsoft took the classic home console and changed it forever, essentially transforming it into a specialized PC designed just for gamers. Featuring original, groundbreaking franchises like Halo: Combat Evolved and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, while bringing in great PC ports like Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (Game of the Year) and allowing you to download music onto to your xbox and program it like a jukebox or ipod with independent playlists on your television (you could even put customized soundtracks into some games!), Microsoft pulled me away from Sony's RPG paradise. The Xbox Live service is a smashing success and was/is probably the single-biggest draw of the system. Finally, console gamers had a comprehensive, easy to use service that allowed them to crush strangers and friends alike in spirited multi-player battles and wars, meeting new people all along the way through live voice chatting. Last time around, Microsoft was the new kid on the block, coming late to the game with something to prove. This time, the xbox 360 was first out of the gate by a mile with a price tag that puts it right smack in the middle between the cheaper, kid-friendly Wii and the ridiculously pricey PS3. With great franchises new and old like Dead or Alive 4, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, the smash-hit Gears Of War, zombie horror-fest Dead Rising, and the promise of Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil on the horizon Sony is losing ground fast in the quality franchise department and has shown us very little in return so far, though they have maintained their "We're Sony, bee-yatches. We'll do what we want and you'll buy it!" attitude towards their fans even as they struggle to catch up to the Wii and 360 by attempting to copy them while dismissing them as "last-gen". And let us not forget Microsoft's unstoppable Halo 3; an ace in the hole if ever there was one. The 360 is constantly catering to the most loyal gamers, 20-somethings with some -but not limitless- disposable income and no time to waste on endless throw-away games or kids' stuff. Xbox live has only gotten better with downloadable arcade games (including Street Fighter 2),upcoming game and movie trailers, hi-definition online movie rentals, dozens of television shows available for purchase, free playable demos for current and upcoming games, and a fantastic online gamer community. Nintendo and Sony both have a lot to prove if they hope to ever even compete with Microsoft online. The xbox 360 now allows you to play every single game on the system with any custom soundtrack you can dream up. Good God, that is awesome. It will interface with everything from your ipod or PC, to a USB keyboard usable for future MMORPG's and the current PS2 port Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia, Rise Of The Zilart, Treasures of Aht Urhgan. To compete with the PS3's blu-ray compatibility, Microsoft gives us the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player which gives you the OPTION of upgrading to a new DVD format rather than Sony's built-in cost that you pay for whether you want blu-ray technology or not. After all, there is a format war going on and either HD-DVD or blu-ray (or even both) may become the next Betamax or minidisc in the future. All of this is just one gamer's opinion and I think I've made some good points without being too biased. After all, I'm an old-time Nintendo and Playstation fan myself. Nintendo has more than held it's own with it's mainstream innovations and stranglehold on the handheld market, but Sony hasn't fared so well and disgruntled fanboys must deal with the fact that the xbox 360 kicks major tail on all fronts. The 360 has almost all of the best games and console exclusives (though not as many recognizable characters as Nintendo), the coolest interface and features (though without the PS3's raw power) so far in a home system, and all at a medium price (cheaper than PS3, more expensive than the Wii). In other words, the perfect system right here, right now.
Will all the Brits Please Stand Up? Where is British Patriotism, does it even exist anymore? So I was born in the south of England in Surry and was raised in Hampshire, so therefore I consider myself British blood through and through. I know some people consider themselves English, Scottish, Welsh, and N. Irish. But we are all one nation and I want to know what happened to national pride. Where’s the parades for our fallen and returning soldiers, who fought and sacrificed them selves so you can sleep well at night, who fought hard in battles with Britain’s enemy’s and who spilt blood for Britain. Where the flags in the streets, I don’t want to go overboard like the Americans but we should stand up and be proud of our country. We have done so much for this world properly more than any other country and we don’t celebrate this. I feel very privileged to live in Britain. You get free Healthcare, the school system is fantastic comparing it to other countries and we supply houses to the poor and the people who can’t afford it. Over the past 40 years we have allowed people from all over the world to come and live in our country, some people think this is a bad thing, but I think it is a good thing if taken in moderation. I don’t want to start arguments as I know how some people feel about this topic so this is just my opinion one mans opinion and we live in a land with freedom of speech so. I think that this increase of different religions, faiths and race does the country some good. We are a multi cultured nation and this just show that people want to live in our country for one simple reason. Because it’s a great country to live in. We have given the world many years off fantastic music and films, we have provided help in countries who needed it and we are a very generous nation. So I don’t know about you but I am so proud to be British and so should you. http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Books/Pix/pictures/2007/06/18/jack460.jpg

why is so much rubbish recorded by artists? with the world in short supplies of resources, recording artists should have to pass a test and have a permit to record new music. No more will we then get so much rubbish. No more will we have to suffer the same chords or words yet again or have to see the same terrible painful videos. Only those who pass the judges on the panal made of of vicars and ex old policemen and women corona kneeting on wedensdays, pass the test to be able to record any more new music. RAP is heavily fined in my town too and there is no jazz, unless you are over 50 years of age, and unless its girl from ipinima, even then its only allowed in lifts. The days of the new single is over and now people can relax and watch the mtv channel to more better country and western only music, the proper music. Also long hair and the use of screaming guitars is by law now banned from all tv stations.

I’m also a diabetic and I going try beer for the first time in my life, im going eat whole bunch of food that could casue harm to my body. and I won't ever have to worry about my health ever again. Because of Mayan prophecy would make sure of that. Im putting all my fate on this prophecy So you know my plans on that day what’s yours
Is the Supply going to increase or decrease? ? FOR ELECTRONICS RETAILERS it will be the holiday season of the flat- screen TV. But the companies that make the key component -- the flat screen itself -- won't have much to celebrate. Heading into the Christmas sales period, traditionally the biggest time of the year for electronics goods, prices of flat-screen TV sets are falling. Sharp Corp.'s 32-inch LCD-TV with built-in HDTV tuner, which was introduced to the U.S. in January at a suggested price of $5,000, now carries a suggested price of $4,000 and is being advertised by some online retailers for about $3,100, including shipping. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. recently began selling a 42-inch plasma set for under $2,000. As prices slide, sales of flat-screen TV sets are expected to double this year and account for about 5% of global TV unit sales. Even so, these sets still yield far more profit for retailers than ordinary, tube-based TV sets. That markup is keeping prices above the level that could turn flat TVs into a mass-market item, say the companies most responsible for the price drop: the Asian makers of the highly complex glass screens called panels. That isn't fair, these companies say. To build the liquid-crystal display, or LCD, panels, they are investing tens of billions of dollars in factories as advanced as those that make computer chips. But these manufacturers can't directly control retail prices since they are just one part of the flat-TV food chain. They sell their panels to TV-set makers, who in turn sell the finished sets to distributors, who then ship the TVs to retailers. Each piece of this chain takes a cut. The world's biggest LCD-panel manufacturers have been cranking out the flat screens faster than the TV industry can absorb as new screen factories have come online. That has prompted the panel makers to cut their wholesale prices by as much as 30% in recent weeks, a move that has lowered their profits. Now they are calling on TV makers, distributors and retailers to do their part to move the screens by reducing their markup on LCD-TVs -- which amounts to as much as 40% of their retail price, according to analysts. "Right now, to work on an immediate and quick liftoff of the LCD-TV market, the [retail] channel margin has to come down," says Ron Wirahadiraksa, chief financial officer of LG.Philips LCD Co.. The Korean company is the second-largest maker of LCD panels and is a joint venture of LG Electronics Inc. of South Korea and Philips Electronics NV of the Netherlands. Retailers insist their margins aren't unduly high. They say the costs of displaying and marketing such big-ticket TVs don't leave high net profits for them. Store chains have invested heavily in training sales clerks to explain the mind-numbing differences in flat-screen technologies. They also have a lot of money tied up in inventories of the costly TVs despite the relatively low sales volumes they generate. Average selling prices of big-screen TVs have dropped to about $3,000 from $5,000 two years ago. That's great for consumers. But for retailers, even if they keep charging the same markup in percentage terms, they end up with a lower gross profit per set sold in dollar terms, notes Michael T. Ryan, a former vice president of merchandising at Circuit City Stores Inc. and now president of international retail consultants Ryan Partnership. The LCD panel makers, meanwhile, face competitive pressure from other screen technologies, including plasma, which generally is used in screens larger than 40 inches, and from the new high-resolution projection TVs that are powered by digital-mirror chips. Since September, plasma-TV prices have plummeted and contributed to a market-share gain over LCD sets. Large LCD screens cost more to build than plasma screens, though that may change in coming years because of efficiencies in the newer LCD factories. Makers of plasma screens do face some of the same profit pressures as retailers apply a similar markup to those sets as well. But plasma- screen factories aren't as costly to erect as LCD-screen plants, and there's a bit less competition among plasma-screen makers, so the profit squeeze isn't as bad. Throughout the electronics industry, executives are plotting the rates of price declines and sales increases for flat-screen TVs and consulting their history books. Over the past decade, the pace at which consumers adopted each new electronic gadget -- from PDAs to DVD players to MP3 music players to camera cellphones -- seems to have accelerated. But most analysts predict that flat-screen TVs won't take off as quickly as flat-screen computer monitors, which went from single-digit market share in 2000 to represent more than half of all monitor sales this year. Monitor purchasing has been driven by businesses while TVs are chiefly purchased by consumers, who tend to be more sensitive to price. Still, flat-screen TV prices are reaching a level that draws far more buyers than the so-called early adopters of new electronics gear. "

What are the chances of vinyl records replacing CDs and MP3s? Is audio technology going backwards? Read the following article: June 26, 2008 10:11 AM PDT Making vinyl records the old-fashioned way Posted by Daniel Terdiman 4 comments At United Record Pressing in Nashville, Tenn., LPs are still made the old-fashioned way: with lots and lots of vinyl. This is a bin full of little vinyl pellets that will be melted into records. (Credit: Daniel Terdiman/CNET News.com) NASHVILLE, Tenn.--When people think of the Beatles coming to America, they usually conjure up images of The Ed Sullivan Show and screaming teenage girls chasing the Fab Four on the streets of New York. But here in Music City, there's something else to commemorate the earliest stages of the British Invasion: the fact that the first American Beatles 7-inch record was produced by United Record Pressing--then, as now, one of the largest makers of vinyl in the world. On Monday, as I swung through Nashville on Road Trip 2008, I was lucky enough to get to visit the production facilities of United Record Pressing here and get a firsthand look at how LPs are made. Before you scoff at the notion of making records, consider that over the last few years, the format has made a big comeback, with sales skyrocketing and turntables moving off store shelves like they haven't in years. Why? The reason is pure irony. According to Jay Millar, the marketing and sales manager for United Record Pressing, it has everything to do with the emergence of Apple's oh-so-ubiquitous MP3 player. "It really started picking up when iPods started coming onto the scene," Millar said. "Everything got so sterile with digital that people were not spending time" with the physical manifestation of their music. A record-pressing machine at United Record Pressing. The company is one of only three in the United States that still produces LPs in any meaningful amounts. (Credit: Daniel Terdiman/CNET News.com) In other words, as iPods began to dominate the music world, people were leaving their CDs on the shelves, and iTunes downloads, as well as those via file-sharing services, took over. But for audiophiles used to actually handling some sort of disc, this change has led to a reversal of fortune for the LP, a format long thought to have gone the way of the floppy disk. For a company like United Record Pressing, that's been great news, as its sales have been going up steadily as more and more artists turn to records as a way to get their music into the hands of people who care about it. So how is a record made? First, a separate company with facilities nearby takes the original recording--which can come in the form of an audio tape, but (audiophiles, cover your eyes here) more often comes on CDs since many artists are using software like ProTools to cut their tracks--and uses it to cut the familiar circular grooves into an object called a lacquer. The lacquer is then delivered to United Record Pressing, which begins the process of actually making the LPs. First, the lacquer is sprayed with a layer of silver, which, after it sets, is then peeled off. The resulting sheet is known as the master, and it is the opposite of a record, because it has ridges rather than grooves. The master is then used to make what is known as the mother, a metal version of the record that can, itself, actually be played. At United Record Pressing, black is not the only color of vinyl that is used. There's also red, orange, blue, gray, and even a mixture made from the cuttings of the other colors. (Credit: Daniel Terdiman/CNET News.com) The mother is then pressed into what is known as the stamper, and this, too, has ridges. The stamper actually is the basis of every record that comes out of this factory. At this point, it's all about raw vinyl, millions of little chunks of the material that resemble Pop Rocks. And it's not just black either. The company also makes records that are red, orange, blue, and gray. Sometimes, it takes all the discarded vinyl from several pressings and mixes them together into a kind of hodgepodge color. First, the vinyl is melted down into what is called the biscuit. This is the center of the record, the round part with no grooves and the little hole. To this is added the label, which is pressed onto the biscuit, a step that doesn't require any adhesive. Rather, the biscuit is so hot from the vinyl being melted down that the label sticks right on. The labels, which are printed here by the thousands, are actually baked in a special oven so that they retain no moisture, something that could cause bubbling on the actual record. To ensure that labels don't bubble up after being pressed onto a record, the labels are baked in an oven to remove any moisture. (Credit: Daniel Terdiman/CNET News.com) Then, the biscuit is placed in the middle of a machine and then it is joined together with a fresh supply of vinyl, and together they are smashed between a plate and the stamper. A blade then shears off the excess vinyl, and voila! A brand new record slides out of the machine and onto a rack. When all is said and done, it's actually a remarkably simply process. But there's still much more that must happen before an LP leaves the facility. First, at least one of each new album run must be tested. So on one side of a room that long ago was used as a room for record release and signing parties--Hank Williams Jr. had a party thrown for him here when he was 16, Millar said--a woman is sitting and bobbing her head as she listens to songs on headphones, making sure the new record has no problems. If it does, United Record Pressing will have to tell the record company what the issue is. There's also the small matter of putting the records in their sleeves--something I saw two people tucked away in a corner of one room doing. They had their process down pat: grab an LP, inspect it quickly for obvious defects, pick up a sleeve, slide in the record, repeat. Click for gallery Millar showed me a room in the basement of the building that contained thousands and thousands of folders--really, they seemed like extra-thick album covers with no art--that contain the masters of every record the company has produced over the years. This is a treasure trove bar none, since United Record Pressing works with pretty much every major label you can imagine. Inside each folder is the master, and a full set of all the associated materials: the master, a label, an album jacket, and anything else that might be included, such as liner notes. And these days, as with an Elvis Costello album Millar showed me, the folders may also hold an insert with information for a digital download of the album. In fact, it is these digital downloads that may be heralding the re-emergence of the LP and the death of the CD. That's because many artists are now offering record buyers a one-time free download of all the tracks on the album as a bonus. This is still a small enough phenomenon, of course, to barely register on Apple's radar. iTunes is safe, in other words. Still, for audiophiles who used to buy CDs, this gives them a way to have a physical disc to listen to the music on, as well as a way to easily tote it with them. "People don't need their discs to be compact anymore," said Millar, "because you can't get much more compact than MP3. So it's back to the big discs." * 10 hours ago * - 3 days left to answer.

So it's back to the big discs."
help me with my essay please :) help me with anything you see please :)? Dear Mom and Dad, I need monthly pedicures. I need music gift cards. Are you sick of I asking for money whenever I want something? An after school job would help me in the real world and that is why kids my age, namely me, need one. An after school job would teach me responsibility. It would also help me to make new friends. Finally, a job would help me become a better person with my goals and confidence. First, an after school job would teach me to be a responsible young lady. I would have to be able to be responsible with my time. For example, I need to be there when the boss says to or else I might get fired. Also, a job would teach me to balance out my schedule. For instance, in one day I would have to fit in school, friends, housework, sports, clubs, and my job. If I can't, I will get rid of something which would most likely be my church ball sports teams because they mean nothing; just for fun. Lastly, it would teach me to budget the money I earn. I want to use my money to pay for fun things including music cards, hair supplies, CDS, clothes and jewelry. I'd have to decide which of the items I want to purchase that week. Becoming responsible is a great attribute of having a job. Second, an after school job would help me make more friends. Though I have a ton of friends, I'm always willing to make more. To make the business successful we, the coworkers, will have to work together. We would have many fun experiences flipping burgers or folding clothes. In conclusion, teamwork equals less disasters. I would also treat people well; customers and coworkers. I will need to have patience for slow and unruly customers. Another emotion I will have to learn is understanding. Therefore, I will need remember that I can't always get the work schedule I want but I will have to deal with it. Thus, teamwork is essential to having a safe and fun work environment. Making friends will always get you farther in your career. Third, an after school job will teach me to work for a goal and become more confident. Once I start succeeding in what I'm doing my self esteem will rise when I get praised or even promoted. While I'm working, I'll have to work hard. There will be some competition to whom is going to get the employee of the month or a raise. That will give me determination. Finally, earning money will be a big goal. I will want something big like a car or a guitar and I will have to save up. Keeping track of my money will help me in a job. In the end, an after school job is the most productive thing a girl like me can do in her spare time. I will need your support and help to get that job and to get me to and from wherever I end up working; for instance in the food category or at a department store. In conclusion, having an after school job will help me pay for myself and help do whatever I want to do. I need your help to fill out an application and send it in. Finally, I need you to help me by looking around for jobs on your way to work because I obviously cannot drive yet.
can anyone grammar check this for me please? The first place I would like to go is Rio de Janeiro. “Brazilians say that God created the world in six days and on the seventh day he created Rio. Rio - “The Marvelous City” – embraces one Atlantic Ocean with its famous beaches like Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon, a paradise on Earth! That remains to be seen…it is the location, the tropical climate, The Samba and Schools and of course the world famous Carnival Ceremonies that have given Rio de Janeiro its image of a heavenly place on earth. In contrary, to what the names suggests, the city was not foundation next to a river, but is (Located at a bay). Rio de Janeiro is one the most spectacular cities on the planet. In Rio they have a fantastic sight called “Christ The Redeemer” on Corcovado Mountain, which gives an even higher perspective, and is the most well-known and recognized landmark of Rio. Another sight seeing is for any true football (soccer) fan, a visit to the Maracana stadium is a required pilgrimage, where you can lay your feet in the imprints of those belonging to the great pele and many other legends. Also the nightlife in Rio is like the city that throws the world’s largest party doesn’t go into hibernation after Ash Wednesday. Rio has a vibrant music and arts scene: classical music and opera, art-house cinema, laid back jazz and chorinho spots, open-air bars, over-the top Samba clubs, and throbbing night clubs. The current social climate in Rio has given the Cariocas-The Residents of the City- a unique way of living. Watching all these gorgeous bodies passing by all day long, already gives you the feeling you have arrived in Heaven. Even though tolerance has grown over the past years, the numerous villages and towns that surround Rio de Janeiro are certain worth visiting. If you have time it is advisable to take excursions to small colonial towns, like Parachior Buzios and The Saint Tropez of Brazil. The biggest unifying feature for Cariocas (as Rio’s residents are known) is video is wide sandy beaches. In fact a 60-mile stretch of hedonistic pleasure is yours for the asking. Sunning, Swimming, Flirting or just plain relaxing is a daily event Oceanside. There is a beach that caters to everyone. Copacabana and Ipanema are just two that are world famous. Some of the others such as Praia do Diablo (Devil’s Beach) or the far-flung grumari offer solitude and specialized activities. Walking to Ipanema is easy and worth while. It is also where the, “Girl From” found. A large black and white tile walk way called the (Calcadoa) provides, a great place for people to watch. Ipanema is also remarkable for restaurante and bars. The beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema are lit at night making them much safer than in years past. Needless to say if seaside is your Rio goal, it’s easily found. No doubt, when you think about Brazil, Rio will come first in your mind. And yes, you should really believe it. Rio can be the first step of your trip in Brazil. With around 6 million inhabitants, one of Rio's most precious resources is often overlooked: its people. Brazil is a melting pot of races, colors and creeds. No one race, color or religion dominates in Brazil. There is room for all, and that includes the many visitors who come to Brazil each year from every corner of the planet. Cariocas are particularly warm and fun loving. A crash course on Portuguese will come in handy. Although it is true that many Brazilians understand and can speak Spanish, it is not their native language and may offend some Cariocas. Other than that, most Brazilians will go out of their way to help a tourist navigate the city. Rio is indisputably a city--with all the attendant traffic and bustle. But the life that inspires the Rio driver to make three lanes where there were only meant to be two also coaxes an impromptu samba from tired legs and drives that most renowned of all Rio events, Carnival. What color mother nature hasn't already supplied, the local Cariocas will invent. Nothing is spared for this festival of senses.
