How do I copy Music CD-R's into Windows Media Player?

My computer recently crashed and the technician wiped my hard drive clean and reloaded my programs. But the music did not show up. I'd saved all my music to CD-Rs. Now I can play them, but cannot transfer the music into Windows Media Player. I tried Ripping it, but it won't work. I also tried copying, but that does not either. Any suggestions?
